Notes:
The TOSCANA class escort cruiser is one of the more massive escort cruisers
constructed, rivaling the ESU's GORSHKOV heavy cruiser (which actually is a
little light for its class). The TOSCANAs were designed to fill the gap in
area-defense support ships, and most constructed to date have been assigned to
Battle Groups, although a couple have found their way into Cruiser Task
Forces. Until recently they had seen little combat action, but so far have
proved themselves capable vessels.
