Notes:
Cygnus provided this design to be as flexible as possible. It
carries Superior grade sensors to carry out its primary function of surveying
star systems. It carries 5, mass 1, modular units that are exchanged for other
modules depending on the mission. These science modules can hold a variety of
scientific sensors, labs, vehicles, and other equipment. Each bay is fully
powered and has an interior access hatch. Occasionally, when the mission
called for it, a weapons module replaced one or more of the science modules.
The ship is partially streamlined to facilitate planetary landings. For
protection it carries a level-1 screen. It also carries 2 class-1 beam weapons
that can double as anti-fighter/anti-missile batteries. Its main armament is a
class-2 beam with 360° arc of fire.
Ships are named for famous science-fiction authors such as: Niven, McCaffery,
Lovecraft, Anderson, Clark, Derleth, Laumer, Weber, etc.

Crew Factor rule (1 CF per 20 MASS for military ships) gives 5 for
a mass-84 warship; 4 matched neither the Military nor Merchant
